Disturbing Footage Shows Point Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Surprise Attack
A senior officer who jumped to the assistance of a fellow officer that got attacked by a blade-wielder has been awarded the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman knifed," the officer was heard to say over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording released by the police department revealed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a weapon extended.
He ran into the policeman who lost balance and went down to the street, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a safe opportunity, bringing the fight to an end.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "I need assistance on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sgt Ansell sustained multiple deep cuts to his neck and additional injuries to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster received slash wounds.
Officials said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's hemorrhaging before emergency responders arrived.
This most recent recognition arrives after the trio of policemen received internal Courage Honors in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional officer association in April 2024.
They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in July 2024.
"The responses of the entire team eventually rescued each other and ensured no bystanders suffered any harm."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, according to officials.
