The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America
Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in South America in the coming weeks, as announced by palace sources.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
Father and son were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
The King has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.
Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the forthcoming conference as stepping up an important role in "environmental negotiations".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were greeted attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.
This engagement included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other world leaders at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco earlier this year.
Environmental Prize Link
The climate conference will align with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the eve of he participates in the climate conference on November 6th.
Recently the royal figure characterized the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".
Royal Climate Legacy
King Charles has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers confronting humanity over planetary heating, climate change and species extinction," the sovereign addressed attendees.
