The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
